Android screen pinning

“Screen pinning” can be used to lock a device in “kiosk” mode on the SmartCircle Display DS or SmartCircle Remote DS apps. This option should be used if the device is NOT rooted. Using this option prevents other apps or OS settings from being accessed.

Below you can see the pros and cons for screen pinning versus applications that are using ROOT.

Pros:

• The app that is locked on the screen cannot be exited so end users cannot change settings or install apps.

Cons:

• The navigation bar shows at all times for devices with no physical buttons.
• Screen pinning gets disabled on every restart of the device. To overcome that limitation power button must be hardware protected.
