Defining the Steps for a Successful Pilot (Questions We Need Answers To Before Starting)
These are critical questions we need answered before committing to a pilot test with a potential client:
-
What is the main problem we are trying to solve? And how is it being addressed today?
-
What KPIs will be used to evaluate this pilot? (Please be specific.) Do they have a wish list of desired outcomes?
-
What other solutions are being tested? (Either simultaneously or in the past)
-
Who are the key stakeholders? – departments and positions (e.g., directors, managers, etc.)
-
For the pilot: Will there be someone responsible at the store level? What will the level of involvement be from the store’s perspective?
-
Who will be the main point of contact at the head office? (For creating access credentials)
-
Are there any budget constraints? How many approvers are required for a project to move forward?
-
When is the planned start date for the pilot? When will the final decision be made regarding implementation?
-
In how many stores are they planning to implement this solution? Will they deploy it all at once?
Infrastructure:
-
Does the client have Wi-Fi in all of their stores? What type of router (access point) do they use? (Please specify the maximum number of devices that can be connected)
-
Will the live devices have a SIM card for cellular network access?
-
What are the store hours? What is the address of the location where the pilot test will take place?
-
What is the store layout (specifically, how many tables are there in the pilot store, and how many devices per table)?
-
Will TVs be included in the test? Are there any video walls? Who manages them? What are the brands/models of the video wall controllers, if any?
-
Will the pilot include iOS mobile devices?
-
Will the pilot include Windows laptops?
Experience:
-
What is the “dream” experience? (Does your client have an idea for something never seen before?)
-
Based on the campaign capabilities described here, what is the intended use case for the pilot?
-
If the pilot includes a digital price tag, what fields should be considered? (For the pilot and for final implementation)
-
Please share a brand manual for each company, including fonts, icons, colors, and any other brand elements to be used in the design.
-
What specific functionality is desired? (Buttons, sliders, videos, etc.)
-
Does this information already exist on your website?
-
Can we build a connector (API) to feed digital price tags directly for the final implementation?
-
Regarding data upload per individual device (price, specifications, etc.), during the pilot phase, a test will be done using an Excel spreadsheet to load this information.
-
Would you like to see examples for inspiration from digital tags we’ve created before? See examples here
Implementation Framework:
-
Who will carry out the implementation?
-
Will it be the end user and their team?
-
Or will it be a managed service by your company (or partners)?
-
Will an alarm be required? (Power disconnection? Headphone disconnection?)
